The
planned development of the Port Denarau retail and commercial centre,
featuring retail outlets, professional offices and food and beverage businesses,
represents the South Pacific's most significant tourism retail development.
Independent
feasibility studies indicate a retail and commercial centre of this magnitude
and calibre will trade strongly based on the number of visitors passing
through each day. It will become the major tourism retail facility in
the South Pacific and a tourist attraction in its own right.
Increasing
numbers to Denarau's existing resorts, planned new resorts, including
the proposed construction of a boutique 120-150 room hotel on Port Denarau,
and the release of and build out of residential sections will give the
retail centre a strong qualified catchment.
Port
Denarau Marina acts as the major departure point for cruises and transfers
to the Mamanucas and Yasawa Islands off the coastline from Denarau Island.
Other visitors that will use the port are the daily through traffic of
holidaymakers embarking and disembarking cruise boats and outer island
transportation and the passengers from visiting cruise vessels. All these
will contribute to make Port Denarau a vibrant centre for retail, restaurant,
café, bar and marine activity.
A
further catchment are the visitors from the Nadi area hotels and Nadi
residents seeking a quality dining and shopping experience on Denarau
Island.
